A new update rolled out for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles. This new update has sped up the loading time for the console, and it does this by cutting the length of the startup logo animation.
With this new update, players can load into their consoles at least five seconds faster. Instead of the original nine seconds of the Xbox logo loading screen, Microsoft has cut it down to four seconds.
Xbox Insider testers noticed this new feature recently, with Microsoft giving confirmation of the new update on Friday. Director of Xbox integrated marketing, Josh Munsee, said that the company created the new animation to “reduce overall startup time.”
Xbox Series X/S owners will only be able to enjoy this benefit if their console is set to Energy Saver mode, not Standby mode. Energy Saver is when the console turns off completely instead of just standing by.
The total boot time for the consoles in Energy Saver mode will now total to about 15 seconds instead of 20 seconds. The Verge noted that this new feature has helped make the Energy Saver mode more appealing and that Microsoft has already made Energy Saver the default option for their new Xbox consoles after adding support for background update downloads.
If you use an Xbox yourself, we’re curious to know if you’ve noticed the change or what you think of it.
