Starfield has beaten Skyrim on Steam for concurrent players

Bethesda‘s newest RPG, Starfield, has now reached a milestone on Steam and has beaten Skyrim’s concurrent player count.

Starfield officially released on September 6, but had been in early access for a few days by then. However, over the weekend, Starfield reached a peak of 330,723 concurrent players. This far exceeds Skyrim’s 287,411 concurrent players. It is still behind Fallout 4 though, which saw 472,962 concurrent players on Steam.

This does not take into account Xbox players or Game Pass users though, which may bump up that number significantly. A good number of people have elected to play Starfield using PC or Xbox Game Pass, meaning that the numbers on Steam may be much lower than they could have been without PC Game Pass.

Starfield is still impressive in terms of numbers though. After just one day of early access, Starfield hit a high of 234,502 players and then 250,000 concurrent players after launch. It is now the sixth most played game on Steam, just behind CS:GO, Dota 2, PUBG, Apex Legends, and Baldur’s Gate 3.

Bethesda stated that shortly after Starfield’s launch, over six million people had played it–obviously, a massive feat for this space adventure.

Reception for Starfield has been relatively mixed, with some loving it and others hating it and some sitting in-between. However, it has been seeing numerical success and its Metacritic score sits at around 87 from the audience, which is honestly really good.

Our experience with Starfield so far has been decent as well on the Xbox Series X. Of course, the game plays much better on PC and it has more to offer with mods, but it’s still good on the Xbox.
