The director for the Silent Hill movie, Christopher Gans, seems to have confirmed that multiple Silent Hill games are currently in development. It would align with several rumors that have popped up recently. Gans directed the Silent Hill film back in 2006.
In a recent French video interview, Gans spoke about what is coming in regards to the Silent Hill game. ResetEra provided a translation that The DZSH Group confirmed to be accurate.
“I’m working with the Silent Team, the original creators at Konami, there are several games in development as we speak, there are several teams on it, with a big line of games, they will revive the franchise,” Gans said. “I think they were really impressed of the success of the remakes of Resident Evil that are evidently exceptional games.”
Gans did say that he is not working directly on the Silent Hill games, but he’s working with “the Silent Team who I met when I filmed the first Silent Hill movie.” Gans did say that he is not working with Hideo Kojima, however.
Gans claimed that “there are several games” in development and that Bloober Team is confirmed to be working on the rumored Silent Hill 2 remake, among other projects. Bloober Team had been speculated to be working on a Silent Hill game after confirmed that they were working on a horror game from an established and popular IP.
Rumors regarding Silent Hill have been ongoing for some time now. Earlier this year, leaked images of an alleged Silent Hill project were deleted, but seemed to confirm suspicions of a future Silent Hill game.
Last month, an unannounced Silent Hill game titled The Short Message received a rating in South Korea. There’s no word on if The Short Message is a spinoff, teaser, mainline game, or something else.
Silent Hill originally launched in 1999 on PlayStation. The last Silent Hill title to release was back in 2012 after the release of Silent Hill: Downpour and Silent Hill: Book of Memories.
