Jake Gyllenhaal to star in Road House remake

Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly starring in a remake of Road House that will be releasing on Amazon Prime video.

Road House was originally released back in 1989 and was about a professional bouncer who saves a small town from local thugs. The movie will be a reimagined take on the original 1989 version and production will begin this month in the Dominican Republic.

The remake of Road House places Gyllenhaal as the main character, a former UFC fighter who becomes a bouncer at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys. However, he “soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise.”

The director is set to be Doug Liman, who has worked on other projects like The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The script will be written by Anthony Bagarozzi (The Nice Guys) and Charles Mondry.

The film will also feature Billy Magnussen (No Time to Die), Daniela Melchior (Suicide Squad), Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, and others.

The 1989 Road House film starred Patrick Swayze as the bouncer and also starred Kelly Lynch and Ben Gazzara.

Road House had a remake in production back in 2015 and would star UFC champion and actress Ronda Rousey. However, that film did not complete production and was never released.
