Logitech’s gaming peripherals are known for being popular, of good build and quality, and of being beloved by the gaming community. From headsets to keyboards and more, Logitech is no small name. The Logitech G502 Hero Gaming Mouse is certainly one of its most popular products. It’s also more than just any ordinary gaming mouse.
I have tried several mice across different companies before, but Logitech’s gaming mice have never failed to impress me. The Logitech G502 Hero is a true testament to what gaming mice should be like. It’s truly the best gaming mouse money can get you.
The Facts
Logitech’s G502 comes in two versions: Wired and wireless. Its wired version is obviously less expensive, with its wireless model getting the additional Lightspeed in its name.
For the most part, there’s no major difference between wired and wireless mice. Some people have reported in the past that wired mice have less input lag, but it’s not really substantial enough to mean much. Wireless mice can help with things like making your gaming setup look cleaner for example.
For this review, I opted to use the Logitech G502 wired version, as I typically found that wired mice worked best for me.
The mouse comes with a specially engineered 25K gaming sensor, sub-micron precision tracking for that maximum gaming performance, customizable LIGHTSYNC RGB, onboard light profiles, and even repositionable weights.
The G502 also comes with 11 programmable buttons that can be mapped in the G HUB program you download once you start using the Logitech G502 mouse. These buttons can be specifically adjusted for things like certain games. If you want to map the slide button in Call of Duty to one of the programmable buttons, you can. It depends on what your preference is.
My Thoughts on The Logitech G502
When I began using the mouse, I had gone from using other Logitech and Razer gaming mice before. Back in the days, I used to use a standard office mouse. However, I found that gaming mice all but fully replaced my reliance on office mice. I began to switch completely to using gaming mice and found that they were much nicer on my hands.

I actually have lots of hand pain as a result of my continuous computer work (you can read on why I decided to switch to paperless and use an iPad here to see the rest of the explanation), but the Logitech G502 mouse actually helped my hand feel much more at ease when I was working.
The mouse’s weight customization was one of my all-time favorite features. Not only did it make using the mouse easier, it also made me feel like I was in control of my comfort level.
The RGB on this mouse is nowhere near wild or crazy. It’s actually fairly simple and has two locations for lights: The Logitech logo on the mouse body and the three light bars along the left side of the mouse. You can choose several different profiles for the mouse, including different RGB modes. I often tried the profile where it responded to beats in my audio. It was pretty cool to see the colors change when I was working and listening to music.
Logitech’s G HUB also allows for you to change your mouse’s settings depending on what video game you’re playing. For example, you can change the lighting and the mapping of the programmable buttons for each game. Every time you boot a game up, the mouse responds and changes the way it works depending on how you mapped it.
Is it Good for Gaming?
Overall, I felt like my performance in my favorite video games did have a bit of an improvement. Whether that’s causation or correlation, I can’t really say, but I personally felt that the G502 did aid in my accuracy.
I usually play Call of Duty and other FPS titles. If you prefer having a low DPI like me, there are lots of DPI adjustments you can make with the G502. Plus, with the weight customization, you can really make it easier to make larger sweeps with the mouse.
Speaking of Call of Duty, if you’re looking for a new mouse to play Modern Warfare 2 with, I’ve been using the Logitech G502 since Modern Warfare 2019 came out. Yes, it’s great for Modern Warfare 2.
If you’re not an FPS player and you’re wondering if this mouse is still useful, yes. It works really well in pretty much every game I’ve played. I don’t think that I’d replace it unless it was literally falling apart and was in pieces. It’s just that good.
Overall Thoughts
In my eyes, the Logitech G502 is a prime example of how mice should be. With its ability to be versatile in both office work and gaming, I found that I couldn’t use any other mouse while I was working. It’s a great mouse and I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with it.
From its minimalist lighting to its interesting but unique design, the Logitech G502 Hero Gaming Mouse is certainly a buy that I wouldn’t skip out on.
