Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has been a pretty big hit for Activision thus far. Naturally, Ghost was the most beloved character from the Modern Warfare 2 campaign by fans. Those who remember Ghost from the original Modern Warfare 2 back in 2009 were pleasantly surprised to see him in such an amazing light.
Ghost also garnered new fans and brought people from outside of the Call of Duty sphere into Call of Duty. In fact, when Modern Warfare 2 first released, people all over TikTok began making Ghost edits left and right. He’s spawned an entire movement somehow.
If you’re someone that really just wants to see more Ghost in your life, there are mods out there that can help you turn other video game characters into your favorite Call of Duty character.
Resident Evil 3 (the remake) released back in 2020 and is part of the highly regarded Resident Evil horror video game franchise. Many people praise Resident Evil for its amazing stories and gameplay.
Resident Evil 3 — although not as beloved as Resident Evil 2 — features Jill and Carlos. There are many of active modders in the Resident Evil community, and one modder over on Nexus brought Ghost from Modern Warfare 2 to life in Raccoon City.
Do note that Carlos is not the only playable character, since Jill is the main character of RE3.
How Does the Mod Work?
The Ghost mod basically replaces Carlos’ appearance and makes him look exactly like Ghost from Modern Warfare 2. The version of Ghost used in the mod is the one seen in the mission titled Kill or Capture.
Basically, once you’ve installed the mod, you will be able to play in Resident Evil 3 and see Ghost instead of Carlos the entire time.
How to Install the Ghost Mod
First, you’ll need to download Fluffy’s Mod Manager. You can do so at the link here. Fluffy thankfully posted a tutorial on his website at the aforementioned link that can walk you through the installation and extraction process. It’s very safe and trustworthy to download, so don’t worry about that.
Next, you’ll need to have a Nexusmods account. You can do this by just signing up like you would on any other website. You need an account to download mods.
Do note this: If you just recently bought Resident Evil 3, you’ll need to scale the version you have back to the non-ray tracing version. Most Resident Evil mods are still not compatible with the RTX version of the game. It really also doesn’t change the experience that much.
How to Get the Non-RTX version of RE3 Remake
Just go to Steam and click on the ‘Properties’ tab of the Resident Evil 3 remake. Then, click on ‘Betas.’ From here, you’ll see a drop-down menu where you’ll just click on this version of the game:
Okay, now you can just install Resident Evil 3.
Download and Run the Ghost Mod
Now, let’s get back to the mod itself. Basically, you just have to download the PAK files from Nexusmods. You can download them here.
Just click on ‘Manual Download’ and click on the slow download version. You seriously do not need to pay money for a faster download speed, it won’t make a difference. You’ll probably have to wait a few extra seconds on the slow download speed.
Now, you’re going to go to the Mod Manager folder for Resident Evil 3. You have to go through the folder labeled ‘Games’ first.
Now, open the folder titled RE3R:

As you probably guessed, you’ll have to open the ‘Mods’ folder. From there, you’ll have to take the PAK file you just downloaded and insert it into the folder.
Head back to Mod Manager and click on Resident Evil 3 remake. From there, you’ll need to refresh the mods list and you should see something like this:
Okay, as you can see, I have the switch on, which means that I already have the mod installed.
Run Resident Evil 3
Now in order to use the mod, just run the game. You can do that from Mod Manager, which is what I did just in case something with my mod installation went wrong.
That’s pretty much it. That’s all you need to play as Ghost from Modern Warfare 2 but in Resident Evil 3.
