According to a report by The Washington Post on Saturday, the Biden administration is considering excluding high-income earners from student-loan relief.
Top Biden aides are considering several income caps, including $125,000 to $150,000, or $250,000 to $300,000 for couples that file joint taxes, individuals familiar with the matter told The Washington Post. However, no final decision has yet been made on the plans.

One person told The Washington Post that “there’s different proposals floating around the administration about how to structure this.” The individual also added that the administration and Congress are trying to see “how to best meet the president’s desire to ensure the most economically vulnerable people with student debt benefit from any action.”
The White House is looking at cutting at least $10,000 from student loan debt after Biden stated that he was not considering cutting $50,000 the other day. The White House is also looking into excluding relief for loans taken out for professional degrees like medicine and law.
