Fortnite, the popular battle royale game, just saw an insanely high record number of players on November 4 all thanks to the OG Event.
The Fortnite OG Event saw the return of the Chapter 1 island. Players were able to go back to the very first Fortnite map and battle across returning points of interest that everyone remembers like Tilted Towers.
The official Fortnite account on X spoke about the record-breaking number of players for the game, writing: “Way to start things off with a big bang. We’re blown away by the response to Fortnite OG.
“Yesterday was the biggest day in Fortnite’s history with over 44.7 million players jumping in and 102 million hours of play. To all Fortnite players, OG and new, thank you!”
During the event, over 6.17 million players were online at the same time, the all-time peak concurrent number of players during the event.
Fortnite OG launched on November 3 and will run until December 2. The month-long event will feature several of the old maps and things that made Fortnite so popular.
Epic Games wrote in a blog post last week that Fortnite OG “will bring a different phase of Battle Royale’s past [during each major update], starting with Chapter 1 Season 5.
“That means Shopping Carts, ATKs, the Assault Rifle, Pump Shotgun, and more in Battle Royale and Zero Build.”
It was definitely a huge weekend for Fortnite and it just shows how much the game is still extremely popular and how much people love the nostalgia of the original Fortnite maps.
