Apple patches major security flaw

Apple is urging users of iPhones, iPads, and Macs to download the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS and Safari amid a recent discovery that hackers could gain total access to Apple devices and “may have been actively exploited.”

There were two issues that hackers could have exploited, according to Apple. The first of which causing an application to execute arbitrary code with “kernel privileges,” which refers to the right to perform an operation.

The second issue may cause WebKit, a layout engine that powers Safari and all iOS and iPadOS web browsers, to process “maliciously crafted web content” that can lead to arbitrary code execution.

These issues, if exploited, could lead to hackers having full control of the affected device. It’s not likely that regular people may be affected by this, but Apple is still urging its users to update nonetheless.
