On Tuesday, WhatsApp launched a new app for Windows. Instead of the web-based version of WhatsApp, Windows users can now download a completely native app made for Windows that was built using Windows technologies. The new app should be better for performance overall.
Prior to the new app, Windows users would have to download the web-based version of WhatsApp and link their phones to send messages and receive messages. The app is out of the beta phase and is available to download on the Microsoft store.
The redesigned WhatsApp is not very different from its predecessor, aside from a bit of a cleaner interface. The biggest change would be not having to link your phone. WhatsApp is also working on a new native app for macOS.
An interesting new feature allows users to send messages even if their phone is offline. The fact that it is a native app as well means that it will run much faster and will be more reliable.
In terms of the macOS version, WhatsApp released the first public beta last month that utilizes Catalyst Technology. This tech lets developers bring iOS apps to macOS with ease. The macOS version is also faster and more reliable now.
There are also plans to release an iPad version of WhatsApp in the future.
