TikTok filters can be anything from interesting to downright bizarre. One of the latest TikTok filters, however, lets you generate AI art in the app.
AI art is a big trend nowadays, with many apps and services creating masterpieces from simple text prompts. It’s really interesting and unique to see what the AI comes up with when you give it an idea. Some artists even use the AI as a base to complete full pieces over.
TikTok’s AI art generator filter is called “AI greenscreen” and it is accessed via the camera screen. It’s nothing special compared to something like OpenAI’s DALL-E 2, with basic models being produced based on the text. The TikTok AI art is mostly abstract, which counters DALL-E 2’s photorealism.
It is highly possible that TikTok’s filter is limited compared to other services due to TikTok’s community guidelines and content restrictions. Many more realistic AI could produce violent or scary images, which is something TikTok would censor under its rules.
You can test out a number of different prompts, with TikTok suggesting some like “Snorkeling in a purple ocean.” You can test it out right now by going into the app yourself. If you try to put something with violent or inappropriate words in, the model will not produce a very clear image.
Some users have turned the new filter into a trend, testing out their birthday and what it gives them, as well as what your “aesthetic” may look like.
