With Splatoon 3 coming up soon, players on the current Splatoon 2 will be eager to hear that the Nintendo Switch exclusive will be rewarding them for transferring their save files.

On Nintendo’s website, a blog post revealed that players who have their save data for Splatoon 2 stored on their Nintendo Switch will be given some perks in the next installment of the series.

These perks include three main weapons that will be immediately unlocked that are otherwise locked behind levels. Splatoon 3’s new ranked mode, Anarchy Battles, will also be available from the start. Players who share a similar skill-level in Splatoon 2 will be matched with each other in Anarchy Battles.

Nintendo also stated that Splatoon 2 players will start the game with a higher rank depending on their rank in the last game, but it was not specified if the level would be an exact match or if players would be granted a bonus in their levels.

Splatoon 3 players who do not use their save data or do not have save data from Splatoon 2 will eventually have access to the features, but it looks like Nintendo wants to give veteran players a headstart on the competition.

Veteran players will also not be matched against new ones, which should allow for some level of an even playing field.
