The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was set to release on September 1st, but Daedalic Entertainment has announced in a tweet that the game was being delayed ‘by a few months.’

On Twitter, the studio stated that “In order to deliver the best possible experience, we have decided to push the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum by a few months.” No precise future release date was given, but Daedalic Entertainment promised to give one “in the near future.”

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was announced back in 2019 and was supposed to release in 2021. However, the game was pushed back to 2022. Back in May 2021, the September 2022 release date was shared. Most are speculating now that the game will be delayed in 2023.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum takes place during the early chapters of The Fellowship of the Ring. Daedalic promised a “cinematic stealth adventure.” Daedalic Entertainment promises a narrative that showcases Gollum’s dual personalities, as well as a heavy focus on stealth and minimal combat. Players are tasked with figuring out creative ways to assassinate enemies and sneak past them through different locations in Middle-earth. The game will release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.
