The 90’s were a cultural icon in the course of the history of entertainment. We can all think of many famous 90’s shows that just don’t seem to fizzle out or get boring. Although TV had been around for a while by then, the 90’s set the stage for the TV shows of the early 2000s and continues to influence us to this very day.

So here are some of the best 90’s shows we all grew up watching!

1. Seinfeld

Seinfeld was one of the most famous shows in U.S. history. Airing from 1989 to 1998, it has had such an enormous impact on U.S. culture that even Seinfeld’s puffy shirt is on display at the Smithsonian museum. The show still streams on Netflix for those of you who want to watch it.

2. Law and Order

When Law in order was released back in 1990, running for the following 20 years, it was an immediate success. The show’s reruns until today still garner the viewership it once had, if not more! The show was the foundation for multiple spinoffs of it, such as Law and Order: LA. Long-time fans of the show can still watch it on Peacock and NBC.

3. Boy Meets World

Boy Meets World was a comedic family-show that aired every Friday on ABC. The show had a massive effect on 90’s culture at the time, as it aired from ’93-2000. Fans can still watch the show on Disney+.

4. That 70’s Show

That 70’s Show, ironically enough, aired from 1998 to 2006. The comedy show is based around a group of friends living in Wisconsin during the 70’s, and as such the show touches on a lot of topics related to that time period, including style and fashion. Fans can still catch the show on Amazon Prime Video.

5. The X-Files

The X-Files was a spooky, sci-fi drama focused on two FBI agents searching for the answers to paranormal-cases. The two agents, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, captivated viewer attention for over 25 years, after the show began airing on TV’s in 1993. Fans can watch all 11 seasons of the show on Hulu’s streaming service.

6. Freaks and Geeks

Freaks and Geeks, although cancelled after a single season, was an incredibly popular show. Big names like Seth Rogen and James Franco were part of its wide cast and crew. It went from 1999-2000, and although its premature cancellation off the air bothered many of its fans, it is still one of the most recognized shows of its decade. It can watched on Hulu, Paramount+, and Pluto TV.

7. Everybody Loves Raymond

Everyone Loves Raymond tells the story of Ray Romano, a Long Island sports writer. The show’s sense of humor and family-friendly style made it a big hit, not just in America, but also abroad. It became one of the most popular shows in Russia, Poland, Egypt, and more. It ran from 1996 to 2005, however long-time fans of the show can catch it on Peacock.

8. Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Buffy The Vampire Slayer was a popular paranormal-drama show that went from 1997 to 2003. The show came very close on multiple occasions to actually winning an Emmy, although it never went through. Nonetheless, the show became one of the most popular shows in the U.S., becoming an almost essential part of pop culture at the time. If you’re interested in watching it, you can find it on Amazon Prime or Hulu.

9. The Sopranos

The Sopranos is arguably one of the most, if not the most, influential show in modern U.S. history. The story is about an Italian mobster named Tony Soprano, played by James Gandolfini. The show has been a hit since its pilot episode in 1999. It ran until 2007, and it became a favorite amongst actual mobsters.

No, that’s not a joke. Gandolfini reported getting genuine calls from mobsters praising him for his role in the show. If you want to get up to date with The Sopranos, you can watch it on HBO Max’s streaming platform.

10. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air had a massive impact over 90’s culture in the U.S., seeing as it aired from 1990 to 1996. The characters, played by big names like Will Smith, are unforgettable. If you want to watch the show, you can see it over at HBO Max. However, be sure to watch the original series before watchin the 30-year anniversary and reboot, which aired on Peacock earlier this year.
