CrossfireX will have all support ended on May 18

The team behind Xbox exclusive CrossfireX has released an announcement stating that support will end for the shooter title in May 2023.

On May 18, 2023, all servers for CrossfireX will shutdown. The campaign will also be available to play until May 18, but will also be unavailable after the date.

No more new content will be added and any purchases made within two weeks of February 14 may be eligible for a refund. Additionally, all player data will be available until May 18, but after that it will not be accessible.

The game will be removed from digital storefronts immediately as well, so if you don’t have the game, you can’t get it any longer.

The developers at Smilegate stated that they worked to add new game modes, events, maps, and other content. However, they felt the game was not at a place that was sustainable any longer.

In a statement, the team wrote:

“It is with the deepest regret that we are informing you of our decision to end support for CrossfireX on May 18, 2023. Since the launch of the game, we have worked tirelessly to bring it to a point where we can all be proud, and throughout it all we have had the honor and pleasure of supporting our players.

“Coming to this decision was not easy, however, we can proudly say that our players have been amazingly active, passionate and enthusiastic in working with us to create a game that would be fun and enjoyable by all. We want to thank each and every one of our players for playing CrossfireX and being a part of this journey with us.”

What Caused CrossfireX to Fail?

It is highly probable and likely that CrossfireX failed as a result of the competitive niche that it chose. CrossfireX is easily comparable to games like Call of Duty, which is pretty much the dominant force in the first-person shooter genre.

Additionally, many people felt like it was a bit disappointing compared to what the trailers advertised.

Whatever the reasons were, if you still want to play CrossfireX, you have until May 18 to get whatever last bits of gameplay in that you want.
