Ubisoft has published about 30 minutes of new and exclusive Skull & Bones gameplay. This comes just a few days after the company announced a sixth delay for the open-world pirate game.
The gameplay shows a bit more about the narrative portion of the game and how it will work. The gameplay also showed off some of the open-world and multiplayer components, through what it calls “investigations.”
“Investigations in Skull & Bones are really a way to tell a story via a series of steps,” narrative director Joel Janisse said. “The player follows a trail that they think will be interesting, and likely gets a lead to some kind of treasure… but it also tells a story about our factions and our world.
“We do that, for example, by finding messages in bottles, scraps of lost journals, sometimes talking to different characters in the world, and through that we’re able to tell a story.”
On Wednesday, Ubisoft announced that Skull & Bones would be delayed from March 9, 2023, but did not give an exact date on when we can expect a release. All that is really known is that it will release “early” in the next fiscal year, which can be anywhere from April 2023 to March 2024.
