On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in a nationally televised address that Russia would conduct a “special military operation” in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine.
Putin claimed that his plans are “not to occupy Ukraine,” but rather that it was a “demilitarization.” He asked Ukrainians to put down their weapons and said that foreign nations should not involve themselves. He added that blame for any bloodshed would be placed on the Ukrainian “regime.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the Ukrainian government was hit with a series of DDOs attacks on their government websites. A senior Pentagon official also said that Russia has amassed nearly all forces needed to mount a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This includes nearly 200,000 troops as well as artillery, missiles, and more.

The Ukrainian government put a national state of emergency in place in order to keep Ukrainians calm and protect the economy.
Report of explosions could be heard in the northeast in a city named Kharkiv and in the nation’s capital city, Kyiv.

U.S. President Joe Biden said in a statement that Putin “has chosen a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life and human suffering.” He added that the Russian operation was “unprovoked and unjustified.”
The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations said that Russia has brought the world “to the brink of a conflict that will produce an untold amount of human suffering.” This was said during an emergency meeting by the U.N. Security Council.
Ukrainian airspace has been closed to all civilian aircraft, according to Eurocontrol, which manages air traffic in Europe. Ukraine is also calling upon reservists and troops to begin mobilizing to defend the nation.
Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry urged its citizens currently in Russia to leave immediately, stating that “the intensification of Russian aggression against Ukraine” might make it impossible to aid citizens in leaving Russia.
