Amazon has decided to host another Prime Day next month, making it the first time that the company has done two events like this in one year.
On Monday, Amazon said that the event will be called the “Prime Early Access Sale,” and will take place from October 11 to October 12. The event will only be open for those who are subscribed to Amazon Prime and will feature “hundreds of thousands” of holiday days.
Prime Day began back in 2015 and usually takes place once a year during the summer. However, with COVID-19, Amazon has changed the dates of the event in 2020 and 2021. Amazon has also experimented with other discount events.
Jamil Ghani, the vice president of Prime, did not state if hosting multiple sales events every year for Prime members would continue.
The sale is obviously strategically placed near the holidays, which would help holiday shopping get off to an early start as Americans grapple with economic challenges, spurred on by a potential recession and rising inflation.
However, analysts are saying that holiday sales are expected to grow from last year, with much of the increase driven by higher prices.
