Splatoon 3 has already gotten off to a big start, with it selling 3.45 million copies in just three days in Japan, the home country of Nintendo. The Nintendo Switch exclusive has outsold popular titles like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Pokemon Sword and Shield, and more.

Nintendo shared the news on their Japanese corporate Twitter account. 3.45 million units sold has outperformed Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which sold 1.88 million in the same period. Animal Crossing is currently the best selling Switch game in Japan.

Splatoon 3 sale figures have not been shared for other regions like the United States, but its 3.45 million sold in Japan is still an impressive figure and seems to indicate that the game will have a good long-term success as well.

Splatoon 3 released just the other day, but has been anticipated since its announcement back in February of last year. Splatoon 2 had released back in 2017, so fans of the paint-shooter have had to wait quite some time for the third game.

Splatoon 3 features a single-player campaign and a multiplayer component.
