The PlayStation 5 update has rolled out today, and comes with some very nice software fixes and features. It was previously reported that the PlayStation 5 would begin supporting 1440p monitors, and that is now available to players globally today. On top of this, there are gamelists and social features like request Share Screen from a party member.

In terms of the 1440p monitor support, PlayStation did state that it would require a TV or monitor that supports 1440p/60Hz or 1440p/120Hz. Additionally, PlayStation VR players will not have 1440p output support, just 1080p and 4K.

PlayStation 5 players can now also compare 3D audio and stereo audio on the same screen and access in-progress Activities from game hubs easily.

YouTube Search through Voice Command (Preview) is also rolling. Now, PlayStation 5 players can say “Hey PlayStation, find [keyword] on YouTube,” even during gameplay. YouTube will then open and show relevant search results. It’s great if you’re stuck on a pesky mission during your playthroughs.

This is currently available to U.S. and U.K. players only and it’s available in English.

Users of the PS App can now launch PS Remote Play directly from the app on iOS and Android devices. According to the PlayStation blog, the PS App has to be linked to the PS5 console and the console must be in Rest Mode. In the PS App game hub, players will have to select “Play Using PS Remote Play.” The app will automatically launch the game.

And finally, the request Share Screen feature will allow players to request other party members to start a Share Screen session, allowing you to watch gameplay from the app.
